Somasila project tourist place

Somasila is a small town in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is well known for the Shiva temple and the Somasila Water Project across the Penna River. The temple has a long history and is located next to the dam.^[1] The project was built in the tenure of Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. It serves thousands of agricultural fields for several villages. Penna Baddevolu is one of those villages and is located downstream of the Penner River. Not only with the temple here, the village has so many attractions regarding water falls, some adventurous trekking and ashramam. This village is famous for many snakes and the people of the village believe that these are harmless and they said that snakes like king cobra had been seen near the Maha Siva Lingam of the historical temple occasionally.Every year the temple heads Somasundara Murthy and Vijaya and their family members organize events for the festivals like "MahaShivaRathri" and "Karthika Masam". The village had a lot of mysterious history in which some of the villagers said that they had seen some of the people coming from the hills and offered prayings to Lord Shiva at night time. It is one of the most beautiful place in Nellore District and the winter is the best time to visit.
